Dear old boys,
Pisces, crustaceans and mollusks, a.k.a. fish and shellfish, though roamed (or swam) the earth aeons before Homo Sapiens’ existence, have long been our unfaltering companion… on the dining table. This is especially so to Hong Kong people, by the volume of our seafood consumption every year. Seafood is also an integral part of human diet worldwide, accounting for 20% of global animal protein intake. Recognised as a healthy food choice, seafood, however, also carries harmful elements like parasites, viruses, venoms, poisons, and other contaminants.
Fok Cham Chiu (K66), is a veteran marine life expert, and, during his short trip back to HK from UK, would like to share with us tidbits of marine organisms, stories of scientific assessment on seafood risks and benefits, measures on safe consumption and promoting awareness for the consuming community, and also tips on wise seafood choice!
